Frequently asked questions

How long does company registration take in South Africa?

With CIPC, most registrations are approved within 3–5 working days, provided your proposed name isn't rejected and all documents are in order. We keep you updated at every step.

Do I need a South African ID to register a company?

You need a valid SA ID, passport with a work permit, or a valid visa that allows business activity. Foreign nationals can register but may need additional documentation — we can advise per case.

What's the difference between a Pty Ltd and a sole proprietor?

A Pty Ltd is a separate legal entity with limited liability — your personal assets are protected. A sole proprietor is simpler but you're personally liable for the business's debts. We can recommend based on your situation.

Can you register a trademark for me?

Yes. We do a preliminary search, prepare the application, and file it with CIPC's trademark office. The process takes 6–18 months for full registration depending on objections.

What is POPIA and how do you comply?

The Protection of Personal Information Act governs how we handle your personal data. We only collect what's needed for your registration, store it securely, and never share it with third parties outside CIPC/SARS.
